To start—can you tell us a bit about yourself?
How did you get into investigations, and what drives your work today?

I have a background in Law, and from a young age, I’ve always been passionate about investigation and behavioral analysis—especially inspired by crime series and movies. That interest naturally led me to specialize in this field. In Brazil, I worked as a Deputy Judge, where my ability to piece together complex information was crucial in supporting investigations. After moving to Ireland, I continued working in this area and today I’m part of a specialized team within the National Child Protection Task Force, focused on investigating the disappearance of children and adolescents. More recently, I’ve also started working in a new field—financial crime investigations—broadening my experience and continuing to do work that truly drives me every day.

In your experience, what’s one skill or mindset every great analyst should have—and why?

In my experience, one of the most important skills every great analyst should have is critical thinking—the ability to look beyond the surface, connect seemingly unrelated pieces of information, and question assumptions. Whether working on child protection cases or financial crime investigations, it’s rarely about what’s immediately visible. You need to stay curious, dig deeper, and approach each case with both logic and empathy. This mindset allows you to see patterns, anticipate risks, and ultimately make well-informed decisions that can truly impact lives.

What’s a trend or challenge in digital investigations that you think deserves more attention right now?

Right now, one of the biggest challenges in digital investigations is the growing number of crimes involving children and adolescents. These cases are becoming increasingly complex, especially with how quickly technology evolves. Anyone working in this field needs to stay constantly up to date—both in terms of tools and understanding how offenders operate online. That’s why I’m always looking to specialize further. Most recently, I’ve been focusing on how artificial intelligence can support investigations, helping us respond faster and more effectively to protect vulnerable individuals.

A lot of people in the field look up to professionals like you—what advice would you give someone just starting out in OSINT or analysis work?

For anyone just starting out in OSINT or analysis work, my biggest advice is: never stop learning. Take the time to study, explore the tools available, and invest in courses to build your technical skills. It’s also really important to connect with people in the field—follow professionals, join communities, attend events, and stay engaged with what’s happening. But above all, be curious. Curiosity is what drives great investigators. Always ask questions, dig deeper, and try to understand the “why” behind every detail. That mindset will take you far in this career.

And finally—what’s something people might be surprised to learn about you? Any hobbies, passions, or routines that help you recharge outside of work?

Something people might be surprised to learn about me is that I’m a huge NFL fan! I also get very emotional when it comes to music and movies—they really move me. Outside of work, my biggest passion is spending time with my family. They’re everything to me. My husband, in particular, inspires me every day—both as a professional and as a person. We’re very close, and one of our special routines is going to church together every Sunday. That time grounds us and keeps us connected as a family.
