Investigating Child Safety

Background

The number of adults who pray on minors online has been steadily increasing in the recent years. Even more, not only do they exist in the dark corners of the internet - they openly create communities, groups, and chats inviting minors to join and share their images. They can either pose as children themselves or pray on underage users. The end goal is to move a conversation off the platform where it gets harder to trace it, solicit photos and private information, and try to arrange to meet in real life.

Child Safety is one of the core responsibilities of Trust and Safety teams on any online platform. Once a potential safety issue is detected, specialists will analyze it to confirm if there’s any risk to a user or a platform. If it’s the case, it will be investigated further to gather more information and escalate it to relevant Law Enforcement agency.

Falkor for Child Safety

All this can be done within minutes since the Child Safety issue was confirmed by a T&S team.
